Kelsey Starr
Numi Founder, Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher 500hrs, Lead Teacher Trainer
Specialities: vinyasa yoga, alignment yoga, yoga for hormone support
is proud to join the ranks of the mighty Terrapins in College Park, MD. She has been practicing yoga since her mom mailed her some Yoga for Dummies DVDs while living in Singapore - for “off days” from running. Over the next few years, she fell in love with the practice because it changed her relationship with her body and herself. Kelsey’s official yoga training began with Ana Hough in Ann Arbor (Prana Vinyasa 200hr), and continued with national teachers Christina Sell and Gioconda Parker at the San Marcos School of Yoga (300hr). Kelsey participates in ongoing online studies with Christina Sell and attends DC-area continuing education.
Kelsey is a lead teacher for Numi Yoga’s teacher training program and is currently leading a year long course called Engage.
In Kelsey’s yoga classes, students will playfully explore actions within poses and have opportunities to integrate yoga with life off the mat. There may be chanting, laughing, and/or workshop elements to her classes, which she (semi) jokingly describes as "too many alignment cues while you are trying to flow". Kelsey values clear work, building strength, and working towards self-acceptance. Kelsey lives in University Park with her husband, Evan, their new baby, and goldendoodle, Argo.
